How to tappit

Our technology

tappit’s technology is comprehensive, providing an end-to-end service covering all aspects of managing cashless events. We can provide closed and open loop capabilities based on solutions that run online and offline.

We have successfully catered for large events with thousands of visitors and have operated at huge scale in terms of card distribution. We are Mastercard® partners and integrated with banks and payment gateways across the globe and our platform runs on a PCI-DSS compliant cloud infrastructure.

Our platform is built by our agile, dedicated, in-house engineering team as we believe that optimises our business performance and the audience experience. We have selected external partners to provide our mobile devices, NFC and RFID technologies.

Software

The tappit experience is based completely on our proprietary platform. We don’t use third-party software and all our technology has been developed in-house, is completely under our control and that means we can easily develop it for specific requirements. We don’t rely on anyone else to run your event; we do it all ourselves and if there is an issue we fix it quickly because we know our tech inside-out.

Hardware

Our preferred scanner supplier is FAMOCO. Its Android devices are manufactured specifically for purpose, offer more control and have no street value. Other devices can be used at your request.

NFC bracelets come in all shapes and sizes for single- or multi-use. There are various other options for storing funds, including cards and even rings. We’ll work with you to find the best solution and supplier.

Connectivity and Data storage

We offer online and offline solutions – online means you have live data but is dependent on your wifi connection; our offline solution gives you peace of mind with regular reports collated each day.

We prefer to use our cloud platform rather than local servers, with devices working offline with sync to provide a service that is robust against power and internet connection issues. This system cannot guarantee real-time sync and reporting but is more than sufficient for end-of-day reporting and reconciliation.

Where a local solution is preferred we would use high-spec laptops as our server and backup and would need a dedicated switch, router and UPS with VPN access to the servers via their internet connection.
